Korean Music Festival 2010

Saturday, May 1 2010

It was my first time going to one of these and I can say it was a fun experience. Although I didn't get the best seats in the house, it still wasn't a bad view. A bleh part of the experience was that there were a LOT of other random/old-yet-talented korean artists performing. Yes, I was watching old people perform one after another. I can only appreciate it for so long before getting bored...Of course, I only came to watch the popular k-pop groups perform even though I didn't know the lineup when I purchased the tickets. I would go again next year but I'd probably invest in better seats to get a better experience.

Beast performed "Easy" / "Mystery" / "Shock"
2PM performed "Again & Again" / "Heartbeat" / "Without U"
KARA performed "Lupin" / "Honey" / "Mister"
Wonder Girls performed "So Hot" / "Tell Me" / "Nobody"

World of Dance

So World of Dance was last saturday and it was pretty fun. I was walking around a lot this time though. I went from the breaking section to the clothing section to the choreography section to the ABDC meet & greet and finally snuck myself in the vip room where all the ABDC dance crews were chilling at. I really wanted to come to support Zombie HunterZ in the 5 v 5 battles and finally meet Blueprint Cru (TL) and watch them perform live. Meeting Blueprint was cool, TL gave me a really big warm hug later when they were done signing autographs...we also stood around and talked to them for a bit as well. I also ended up hanging out with Royal Flush and Hype 5-0 for a bit too...very chill people. Unfortunately the flyer lied to me...they said Blueprint was going to perform but TL told me they were injured/tired so all good...at least JabbaWockeeZ came out and gave a show. Zombie HunterZ took 3rd place in the 5v5 and GRV took 1st for the choreo competition...congrats to them.

Poreotix is America's Best Dance Crew!

Finally, the show comes to an end with my two favorite season 5 crews coming out on top 2. First, I would like to congratulate Blueprint Cru for making top two and for coming this far when all odds have been agaisnt them from the start. This crew has been a strong crew with consistent performances beginning to end. But finally, I'd like to say congratulations to my friends Justin and Lawrence and the rest of the crew for taking home the title and $100,000! I am very proud of these guys and they really deserved it. (I also feel like Blueprint deserved it as well) ...I am just so happy and proud of them become part of the ABDC champions history along with JabbaWockeeZ, Super Cr3w, Quest, and We Are Heroes. I wish Blueprint the best of luck from here on now and to the other crews I liked throughout the season (Jungle Boogie, Static Noyze, Swagger Crew)...can't wait to for next week ;]

Spring Break -_-

Okay so Winter quarter finally ended for me 2 weeks ago...I got three B's for my classes...all good.

So it was Spring Break! and what did I do? well...nothing really out of the ordinary. I really waned to go to Las Vegas, Snowboarding, and Huntington Beach...but unfortunately none of that happened. I ended up getting this infection/pain in my body and it was hurting me to the point where I actually got scared for my life. I thought it was this on thing where it would've required surgery o cure but good thing I don't need to do that I went to see the doctor the following day and he just prescribed me antibiotics and pain killers so I've been just taking it easy these past days.

My break was pretty much chilling at home...watching ABDC on Thursdays...video games...going online...eat at home...eat out...and watching movies. Yesterday however, I did go to the Black Out 2 jam in Arcadia...it was cool at first and then it suddenly dragged a lot due to the unorganized MC. Another thing I disliked about it was the judges made a wack ass call on my friend's crew, Zombie Hunterz...so we just left that place and ate at JJ Cafe'. Then it we watched Hot Tub Time Machine..pretty cool day I guess. So that concludes my spring break, told you it wasn't much. Spring quarter starts tomorrow...let's see if I can get some good sleep tonight, doubt it.

Thien-Linh Truong (TL)

Okay so I've been having this big crush on TL from Bluprint Cru (on America's Best Dance Crew) ...I love everything about her...she's beautiful, her choreography, and her really kind personality.

Hopefully I can meet her one day after ABDC is over...maybe at World of Dance or something...we'll see. Although most of my votes goes to Poreotix, I still have to be honest that Bluprint Crew is still my favorite crew on the show.

I love you TL! :D

And The Oscar Goes To...

BEST PICTURE: The Hurt Locker
BEST DIRECTOR: Kathryn Bigelow (The Hurt Locker)
I also want to say congrats to Christoph Waltz (Inglorious Basterds) for winning best support actor, Up for winning best animated feature, and composer Michael Giacchino (Up) for winning best original score...

Although I felt happy that The Hurt Locker took many awards tonight, I did feel that Avatar should've won more of the other categories such as maybe......best film editing, best sound editing, and best sound mixing instead of The Hurt Locker. James Cameron didn't even go up on stage once! I felt like Cameron and some of his crew got robbed for other categories but oh well.

Poreotix on ABDC Season 5 !!!

Finally, I saw my friends Justin and Lawrence perform on ABDC with Poreotix crew. Overall, I really liked their 'Taylor Swift - Love Story' performance but I kinda wish I saw more. But then again, with them making it passed eliminations, it just proves that Poreotix did so well with their comedy routine, they still didn't have to go all out to beat the other crews. I just can't wait til we see their real popping skills to eventually come out as they perform to their tasks. Anyways, goodluck y'all and congratulations for making it to season 5!

Oh yeah, I also support Swagger Crew...win or lose.
Favorite ABDC Crews :)

Black Hawk Down

just watched it this morning...finished at 6am. I was wide awake throughout the entire movie and I have to say...this is probably one of the best modern war films of all time.

Set The Fire To The Third Bar

Snow Patrol...probably one of my top 5 favorite music artists, saw them in concert last year...can't stress how good they are live.

Vibe XV

So I had no work today...meaning I was excited to go to Vibe 15 at UCI :]
But before that, my impulsiveness decided to get an "Android 16" haircut at the salon =X

So it was just my brother, Mike, and Daniel that went...met up with friends and other familiar faces...Thanks to Justin (Poreotics) and Jenny (Kaba Modern), we got in for free :)

Overall, for the competing teams, I have to say Common Ground, Kaba Modern, and GRV were my favorite performances

As for the exhibition teams, I have to say Anbu Black Ops, Poreotics, Funkanometry SF entertained me the most...along with Surreal and Kaba Modern Legacy :]

Vibe 15 was pretty good but I still thought I was more impressed at Vibe 12

and the winners were...

3rd place = Team Millennia
2nd place = Common Ground
1st place = Choreo Cookies

Utada - In The Flesh

So one day, my friend Richard Fagel asked me to go to Utada's concert with him because he didn't want to go alone...I was like WHAT?! SHES HAVING A CONCERT?!?! WOW...only reason I hesitated at first was because I was short on money at the time but that didn't stop me, I HAD TO GO!

I went with Fagel, Mike, Michelle, and Stephen, good thing the rain stopped during the whole time there. First, we all went to the back of the long ass line til Fagel discovered a shorter line, which saved us...got in before everyone else! (catch was to buy $15+ at the gift shop)...

The concert was amazing, I've been WAITING to see Utada for a long time now...and my wish came true. Turns out it was also her birthday, so we all sang happy birthday to her ^_^. I knew most of the songs she sang, I just didn't recognize like two of them ...mainly because I haven't really heard her Exodus album. The crowd was really hyped up and Utada looked really beautiful...wow I really loved how she looked last night. She sang with a lot of energy, with the help of her great band as well. I'm also really glad she sang 'First Love' and 'Sanctuary'. But honestly, the entire performance was fucking awesome...felt like we were in a rock concert haha, that's how hard of a show Utada can really put on ;)

The only bad thing was the stupid strict security, or else I would've had a lot more footage -_-

I can't wait to see her again, Happy Birthday Utada =D

Here's the compilation video Fagel made with my clips:

Level 22

Happy Birthday to me...wow I'm 22 now.

Since I'm too lazy to go in full details about my birthday, I'll just summarize what I did.

I ate at Woodranch BBQ & Grill, and then chilled at Crepe Luv.
On my actual birthday, I actually had class til 630pm so then I ate at this Chinese restaurant on las tunas with my family, and then chilled at Yes Plaza in Diamond Bar with the peeps...we spent a good amount trying to win that PS3 in Crane Land haha...but failed.
